Although one can still engrave photos using manual methods, it requires expertise. Lack of expertise is another reason why Ugandan engravers do not offer photoengraving services. What Must You Know for Quality Photo Engraving Results?
Most customers, when they need a photo engraved on wood, just pick on any photo and bring it to us. No, that shouldn’t be the case because not all photographs are good for engraving. Poorly taken photos don’t bring out quality results. If you want quality results, please take note of the following.

#1 – Image Source
There are basically three (3) sources of the images we use to laser engrave a photo: hard copy, online image and digital camera image. You can present your image to us in any of these three forms. The colour of the photo doesn’t matter. You can bring a colour photograph as well as a black and white photograph.
#2 – The Size of the File
By size, we mean the resolution (DPI) of the photograph. And this applies to photos whose source is either online image or digital camera image. The resolution should be big because smaller file sizes do not produce quality engraved photos. To work on a smaller file to produce a good engraved photo, we need a lot of time. As you know, time is money. We either charge you more to pay for our time or we reject your photo.
#3 – The Image Quality
Not all images are good for engraving. Good images are very clear with detail in the dark areas (shadow) and in the light areas (highlight). Images with clustered backgrounds are not good for photoengraving. The quality of the image you bring matters a lot. The image we begin with is therefore extremely important.
