QR Asset Tags

QR asset tags are a modern and convenient approach for an institution, organization, or corporation to track assets. However, few Ugandans are aware of this. Most customers choose direct engraving on their property. A few opt for using asset tags. And very few consider using barcode asset tags. Most people in Uganda go for direct engraving because they believe it is the best theft deterrent. They think that when they attach an asset tag on a property, it is easy for thieves to remove it. They feel that the property is safer with direct engraving on it.

Secondly, it is because that is what they are used to seeing around them and feel comfortable with it. Thirdly, people find direct engraving comparatively cheaper. However, direct engraving limits the information you put on the asset. It can only be either an identification number or a business name. But if you want a method that will contain more information than just an identification number and name, you need to mark your property with tags. In this post, allow me to share the benefits of using QR asset tags.

Before I reveal the advantages of using QR asset tags, let us first understand what they are. Recently, I wrote extensively about QR code marketing in which I explained the meaning of QR codes. If you missed this post, do not worry. Let me repeat it here for you. The term QR code is an abbreviation for Quick Response Codes. It is a machine-readable code made up of black and white squares that individuals use to store information readable using a smartphone’s camera. So QR property tags consist of data stored in the QR codes. You will need to download a QR Code Scan App on your cellphone to retrieve the information.

What Are the Benefits of QR Property Tags?

Let us look at the benefits of using QR asset tags to track or manage your assets now that you know what they are. The following are some of them:

#1 – Storage of More Information

QR asset tags store more than just serial numbers, business names and prices. You can add much more relevant information you want to keep on them. Direct engraving and barcode asset tags do not allow for this. Even with barcode tags, the amount of data you can store on them is limited.

#2 – Easily Readable by Cell Phones

Reading information stored on QR asset tags is easy as long as you have a smartphone. Anyone with a smartphone can scan the code to retrieve the data. It is not the case with standard barcodes. Standard barcodes require the use of a scanner to read the data. Secondly, scanning the codes is so easy in any direction you are.

#3 – Keep Costs Low

QR asset codes are cost-effective because they reduce the need to purchase expensive scanners to record inventory transactions. In Uganda, good scanners currently range from UGX 900,000 to UGX 1,200,000. That is a lot of money. But if you use QR asset tags, you do away with that cost.

#4 – Hide Information

Another benefit of using QR asset tags is that the information stored on them is not visible to your eye. And most people in Uganda do not mind them. They see checkered boxes and do not bother to find out more about them because they do not know. One may even think that it is an industrial label that came with the asset. It could be so helpful in netting thieves.

Conclusion

Using QR asset tags is the best option if you need to include more data on your property tags. You will be able to retrieve the information stored easily with your smartphone. At Goleza Designers, we make these tags using tamper-resistant AlumaMark aluminium at affordable prices.
