Facebook Page Optimization

Facebook page optimisation
skill is a crucial ingredient to the success of your business page. The majority of the people on Facebook limit themselves to using a Facebook profile. It is the first account they create on joining this social network. Their main objective is to socialise and to make fun. But in addition to socialising and making fun, Facebook also provides its users with great opportunities to do business online. To do business effectively with your Facebook page, you must to know first Facebook page optimisation techniques.

Facebook pages are for people with businesses, celebrities and organisations to keep in touch with their fans and to do business. As you may have known, where there is fun, there is always a chance to make money. As you socialise and make fans through your Facebook profile, you also have an opportunity to promote your business among people who socialise with you by creating a Facebook business page.

Technical Know-How Is  Required

Setting up a Facebook page and managing it, unlike a Facebook profile, requires some technical know-how. It requires a lot of innovativeness to achieve your goals in Facebook marketing. When you set up your business page, your primary aim is to promote your business. You want your business to get exposure to your fans and thousands of other people each day. Secondly, you want to generate traffic (visitors) to your website. Thirdly, you want to get feedback from your customers on your products, services and the entire business. Fourthly, you are looking for people to buy your products and services. Lastly, you want to establish yourself as an expert in your niche and much more.

Regardless of the reasons you may have for creating your Facebook page, you should bear in your mind one key aspect: Facebook page optimisation. Your business success highly depends on your ability to get people to visit your Facebook business page.

Facebook page optimisation is a technique webmasters, online business owners and marketers use to drive organic traffic (visitors) to their websites. If you want search engines (i.e.Google and Yahoo) to detect and index your Facebook business page, you have to embrace Facebook page optimisation. If not, you will not be able to achieve your goal.

Steps Followed in Facebook Page Optimisation

Let me point out some of the steps you should follow as you work on your Facebook page optimisation. These techniques are not different from the ones webmasters use for their websites and blogs. They are almost the same as the ones used for the articles they write to promote their businesses. But I would like to particularly share with you a step-by-step process of carrying out a Facebook page optimisation process.

1. Select a Niche

In your Facebook page optimisation process, you need to, first and foremost, make a niche discovery with a lot of people who search for what you intend to promote on your page. Look for what is selling most in magazines and newspapers. You can also do your search online with Amazon, Google, Click Bank and Yahoo to mention but a few. If you already have a niche, what you have to do is to select a theme and search for keywords that directly relate to your niche.

2. Do a Keyword Research

After choosing your niche, take some time to do some research on the main keyword. A keyword, in this case, is a word that best describes your theme. I highly recommend that you use keyword phrases (with two or more words). It’s because it’s difficult to rank high in search engines with one-word keywords.

For instance, if you want to create a Facebook page that focuses on “Facebook marketing”, avoid using the word “Facebook” alone as your primary keyword. It’s too general, and you won’t rank high on it due to the high competition involved. Instead, consider using keyword phrases like “Facebook marketing secrets”, ”Facebook marketing tips”, “Facebook marketing course”, “Facebook marketing ideas”, etc. The more targeted your keyword phrase, the better. Your page will attract highly targeted traffic (visitors).

To do keyword research, use the Google Keyword Tool to enter your primary keyword phrase for your theme that is related to your niche. To use this tool, you must have an account with Google. Using the same software, look for other keywords with many monthly searches, which you can use for your Facebook title and content as well.
After receiving other additional keywords using the Google Keyword Tool, then go to Google or Yahoo and enter the selected keywords to know how much competition there is for pages that use those same keywords.

For better results, always put the keywords or keyword phrases in quotes as in this example: “Facebook marketing courses”. Compare the number of the Global Searches Per Month from the Google Keyword Tool with the one that Google or Yahoo returns in the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). In the images above, there are 54,900 results for this term and over 100,000 global monthly searches.

Select the keywords/keyword phrases with a high number of monthly searches and a low number of competing websites to be your keywords/keyword phrases for your page title and the content you will post on your page.

3. Use the Main Keyword for Your Facebook Business Page Title

Having done your keyword research, you now know your primary keyword. You also know other additional keywords that you intend to target. Use the primary keyword/keyword phrase on your Facebook business page and profile. Use other supplemental keyword phrases in the content or material that you post on your page.

Finally, Facebook page optimisation is an aspect you should consider very important. That’s when your page will be noticed and indexed by for the specific keywords people use when searching for information in search engines. Put it in your mind that you must optimise your page title and the content. Think Facebook page optimisation is necessary to attract free organic traffic (visitors).
