Article Optimisation Tips

Article optimisation is a crucial aspect of your article marketing campaigns. Your targeted website visitors should be able to find your articles when they do a keyword search at any search engine. Article optimisation is not a complicated process. However, many times, newbies don’t easily understand it correctly. In this blog post, let me give you simple article optimisation tips for better search engine rankings.

In keyword optimisation, it’s essential to know first what search engines are. It’s equally important to learn how they behave. These are simply websites, which run software popularly known as “Spiders” or “Robots”. These robots continuously move around the internet in search of new web pages to index. Search engine indexing is a process of collecting and storing data to facilitate fast and easy recovery of information. Major search engines include mainly Google, Yahoo, Bing, and Ask.

When a search engine is indexing a page, it scans the page while looking for specific keywords. The pages that rank high when internet users search are the most relevant to search queries. When you write your article and upload it to your blog, you create new web pages. These pages are subject to being indexed by the search engines. If your content doesn’t rank in the top 10 or 20 search results, it’s practically difficult for your targeted audience to find you. It is the reason why article optimisation is essential.

To market your business successfully online, you need to generate a steady stream of traffic to your website. Article marketing is one of the techniques most successful online marketers use to drive traffic to their sites. But for you to benefit from this marketing method, you have to consider article optimisation so necessary.

As already said, article optimisation is a crucial factor in driving targeted traffic to your website. True. A reasonable amount of traffic originates from search engines. Most internet users go to a search engine, type in a keyword phrase like “laser engraving services+Uganda”.  They look through the first ten results. Many times, they find what they are looking for in the top 10 results. If your article is among the first ten results and has an attention-grabbing title that solves the problem of your targeted audience, the chances are that it will get read. Secondly, your targeted visitors will follow the links to your website to get more useful information.

What Does Article Optimisation Include?

It consists of the following aspects:

1. Carrying Out Keyword Research.

When making keyword research, there are mainly two aspects you have to look for: keyword demand and amount of supply for the keyword.

i. Keyword demand refers to the number of people who search the internet every month using the keyword you want to use. If your keyword is “engraved products”, get to know how many people search for it. You can quickly get this information by visiting Google’s Keyword Research Tool.

The tool will give you other related keywords with different monthly searches, from which you can also select suitable keywords. It’s advisable to choose a keyword with a reasonable monthly demand.

ii. Amount of supply for the keyword refers to the number of websites that supply that keyword. For example, how many sites provide the keyword “engraved products”? You can get this information by searching Google. While searching, envelop the keywords in quotation marks as in “engraved products” but not as engraved products. It helps you to get results only containing precisely the queried keyword. It is advisable to use less competitive keywords. These are the ones with less supply and for which you can work your way to a higher search engine rank.

2. Optimising Your Article Title

Put your primary keyword or keyword phrase at the beginning or near the beginning of your article title. It is mainly because search engines consider old words, and if your keyword is near the beginning of the title, you have more chances of ranking well.

Additionally, it’s also good to place your keyword twice in the title for even better results. For instance, if your keyword is “home business”, you can phrase your title as “Home Business – Great Ideas On How To Start A Home Business”.

3. Optimising Your Article Content

It’s good to place your main keyword in every paragraph. Putting it at the beginning of the section is beneficial. But having it appearing in the last sentence of the section is also good. Secondly, the keyword density of your article should be reasonable. Not high for Google to penalise you. And not too low for search engines not to see you.

Optimising the content is a big challenge in article optimisation. Your keywords must flow with the article so that you don’t seem to be only working at keywords at the expense of your article quality. Besides, it can turn your content into a boring piece of information to the readers due to too much keyword repetition. The onus is, therefore, on you to apply the article optimisation techniques well.

4. Optimising Your Article Resource Box

A resource box is a brief description of yourself and your business. It comprises links to your website, generally found at the end of each article. It’s one of the essential parts of your content. It’s the one that drives your targeted audience to your website. You have to write it in an attention-grabbing way. It also has to be optimised to target generic traffic. It’s so useful when you post your articles on other websites.

In the resource box, use your main website keyword or a keyword phrase (NOT your article keywords) as an anchor text to link out to your website. For instance, your resource box can read like this:

“XY is a Child Rights Specialist who helps parents with specialised knowledge and skills on how to raise their children into responsible children through his Child Rights Forum. Visit to learn and to share your parenting knowledge and skills with other forum members”.

“Child Rights Specialist” and “Child Rights Forum” are the anchored texts with links to the website.

The above article optimisation ideas are what you should know to have your articles positioned strategically in the search engine rankings. It’s by so doing that your article marketing campaigns will effectively boost your business online. Always think about article optimisation in your article marketing strategies!
