You can adjust the thickness of the <strong><em>Highlighter Tool<\/em><\/strong> by adjusting the <strong>Nib size<\/strong> in the <strong><em>Tool Options<\/em><\/strong>. You can also change the Highlighter colour and fill colour to make them more visible. From the Cutout results, select <strong><em>Cutout<\/em><\/strong> and click <strong>Ok<\/strong>. This step is resampling, which means changing the pixel dimensions of the image. When you downsample, you\u2019re eliminating pixels, and when you upsample, you add pixels.<\/p>\n<p>To <strong>prepare photos<\/strong> for engraving, we need to increase the pixels so that all the details of the image are visible for the laser engraver to identify them. To resample, select the photo and then click on <strong><em>Bitmap<\/em><\/strong>. In our case, we are adjusting the image size to 5 inches in width, which automatically changes the height to 3.7 inches. When you downsample, you\u2019re eliminating pixels, and when you upsample, you add pixels.<\/p><p>To <strong>prepare photos<\/strong> for engraving, we need to increase the pixels so that all the details of the image are visible for the laser engraver to identify them. To resample, select the photo and then click on <strong><em>Bitmap<\/em><\/strong>. Unsharp Masking is an <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Image editing\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Image_editing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener wikipedia noreferrer\">image sharpening<\/a> technique that brings out the edge detail of the photo. To unsharp mask, the image, select the photo. With your photo selected, click on <strong><em>Bitmap<\/em><\/strong>. To turn the photo to black and white, select the picture. These include <strong><em>Line Art, Ordered, Jarvis, Stucki, Floyd-Steinberg, Halftone and Cardinality-Distribution<\/em><\/strong>. When engraving a photograph on wood, the <strong><em>Halftone<\/em><\/strong> dithering pattern works best. So select <strong><em>Halftone<\/em><\/strong> as the conversion method. Set the <strong><em>Screen type<\/em><\/strong> as <strong><em>Line<\/em><\/strong> and\u00a0enter the values <strong>0 degrees<\/strong> and <strong>100<\/strong> lines per <strong>inch<\/strong> and then click <strong>OK<\/strong>. Note that the quality of the engraving also depends on other factors like the laser print settings, type of wood and the quality of the original photo.
