It doesn\u2019t relate in any way to who contributed what to your wedding or upbringing. It, therefore, follows that you don\u2019t list the names of the hosts according to their contribution to your wedding. But it\u2019s good to bestow the hosting honour in a way that makes you, the bride and groom, feel comfortable.<\/p>\n Secondly, the hosting honour is generally for living people because it\u2019s existing people that invite you to their wedding celebration. Who comes first? It\u2019s up to you and how your tradition dictates. Traditionally, this honour belongs to the bride. So there is no problem listing first the name of the bride. But in Uganda, people are into a habit of writing the bridegroom\u2019s name first, followed by that of the bride. I think it\u2019s because men in the African setting usually take the lion’s share.<\/p>\n It’s where you specify the time, date and location for the wedding. It\u2019s so important to adhere to this essential in your wedding invitation wording<\/strong>. Without it, then your wedding invitation is not informative about when which time and location of your wedding ceremony.<\/p>\n The party line is where you state what comes after the wedding. Usually, it\u2019s a celebration. It\u2019s where you can give your guests a feel of what to expect. But most people in Uganda limit themselves to the usual wording of \u201c\u2026.and after that to a wedding reception at \u2026\u2026 at 2.00pm<\/em><\/strong>\u201d. Well, that’s good. But you can be a little more creative to set the tone for the celebration. You can alternatively say and not limited to:<\/p>\n ♦ \u00a0\u201cParty to follow at 7.00pm at Sheraton Gardens.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n ♦ \u00a0\u201cFood, cake and beers to follow.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n ♦ \u00a0\u201cJoin us for a luxurious dinner at 7.00pm at Sheraton Hotel.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n ♦ \u00a0\u201cDinner and dancing to follow<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n You will wonder why I didn\u2019t include the RSVP as an essential of the wedding invitation wording. It wasn\u2019t an omission. You may include it or leave it out. It’s an acronym of the French words \u201cR\u00e9pondez s’il vous plait\u201d, <\/em><\/strong>which mean \u201cPlease reply if it pleases you\u201d<\/em><\/strong> or \u201cRespond please<\/strong>\u201d. It calls for the guests to respond to your invitation whether they\u2019ll attend or not.<\/p>\n In modern times, people also use \u201cRegrets only\u201d<\/em><\/strong> instead of RSVP<\/em><\/strong>. It merely means that you only respond if you are not going to attend.
